Auum is proud to announce its collaboration with Siemens. The two companies are combining their respective expertise to foster innovation and sustainability.
Siemens is providing its expertise to help Auum optimise its industrial operations and cleaning technology.
By deploying its innovative cleaning solution, Auum is actively helping Siemens reduce waste and save water across its European sites.
Founded in 2019, Auum — an acronym for “Arrêtons l’Usage Unique Maintenant” (“Let’s Stop Single Use Now”) — has set itself the mission of helping companies eliminate the 5 billion disposable cups still consumed every year in France. After three years of R&D, Auum launched mass production of the auum-S in 2021. This cleaning solution is now one of the most environmentally friendly on the market. It cleans, disinfects and dries a glass in 20 seconds using only 10 cl of water and no chemicals. With Auum, reusing becomes as simple and quick as throwing away.
Beyond the simplicity of this technology, Auum also wanted to offer an accessible solution that is economically equivalent to the disposable model, which has been increasingly challenged since the introduction of France’s Anti-Waste Law for a Circular Economy (AGEC Law). The solution has already attracted nearly 300 B2B customers, including almost half of the CAC 40 companies, such as TotalEnergies, Kering, L’Oréal, ENGIE, Saint-Gobain, Boursorama and Air Liquide.
The collaboration between Auum and Siemens
Auum and Siemens are proud to announce the results of their recent collaboration. The two companies are sharing their respective knowledge and expertise to harness technology in the development of innovative and sustainable solutions.
Auum is helping Siemens define its CSR roadmap, while Siemens is supporting Auum’s growth by providing its technological expertise.
Supporting reindustrialisation in France
By collaborating with the industrial start-up, Siemens is reaffirming its commitment to supporting reindustrialisation in France and putting its expertise in innovation at the service of the ecological transition.
As part of this collaboration, Auum will benefit from Siemens’ experience to optimise its industrial operations and, ultimately, reduce the environmental impact of its activities.
To support this effort, Siemens is providing solutions from its Siemens Xcelerator industrial software portfolio, including the Solid Edge® mechanical engineering software and Simcenter™ STAR-CCM+™ CFD software, to help Auum optimise its technology and create a digital twin of its production facility.
Clément Houllier, CEO and Co-founder of Auum, says:“It is a tremendous source of pride to be able to work hand in hand with a group of this scale and to support them in their zero-waste approach in France and across Europe. I know that Siemens’ support for all our digital tools in R&D and production will be key to scaling up.”
Supporting major companies with their CSR policies
For its part, the start-up is supporting Siemens in its CSR policy by deploying its innovative and environmentally friendly cleaning solution at three of the group’s sites — Toulouse, La Défense and Châtillon.
Auum is therefore enabling Siemens to significantly reduce the amount of waste generated and save water at the equipped locations.
Discussions are also underway to extend deployment of the solution to additional European sites during 2024.
“All industrial and technological innovations are supported by the use of digitalisation solutions. To accelerate convergence towards an optimised product that meets all requirements, Auum has chosen solutions from the Siemens Xcelerator portfolio. As these solutions cover a broad spectrum, they will enable us to support the start-up throughout its different development phases: innovation, industrialisation and optimisation. Our collaboration with Auum also includes the deployment of auum-S machines within Siemens offices in France as part of our CSR policy,” says Jean-Marie Saint-Paul, Managing Director of Siemens Digital Industries Automation and Software France.
Doris Birkhofer, President of Siemens France, adds:
“At Siemens France, we believe in the power of ecosystems to find practical solutions to society’s major challenges. We support start-ups throughout their entire lifecycle and help our 100% French success stories scale up. As a technology leader, through digitalisation and our innovative technologies, we provide solutions to the challenges of France’s reindustrialisation and business competitiveness, while also addressing sustainable development issues. In this respect, we are proud to contribute to the growth of Auum, which addresses zero-waste challenges and therefore contributes to the development of the circular economy.”
This collaboration is a powerful illustration of how partnerships between young companies and major corporations can create strong synergies, taking innovation and sustainability to new heights.
